The Corporate Development department of a public company was interested in potentially making a large investment in a particular sector. Adaptive Consulting was engaged to develop an investment thesis for that sector, build financial models, and identify potential acquisition targets.
When no transactable companies emerged after a few diligence meetings, we were asked to build the business plan for an intrapreneurial venture the company could incubate.
The plan included detailed five-year financial models, pricing structures, a go-to-market strategy that contemplated competitive threats, and guidance on the first five roles that must be filled along with candidate profiles for each.
Although the company ultimately put the incubation opportunity on hold, the work was praised, and Adaptive Consulting has subsequently been engaged by this client for additional work.
